Key features
The Alpaca Farm was founded 30 years ago and was run by the founding couple ever since. It was marketed as a family-friendly tourist spot. As the years went by, many activities were added to the farm, such as desert accommodation, workshops, horseback riding and more.
The farm remains a family business, but now the new generation takes the reins to re-invent it as a unique, more professional spot, leaning towards business clients and groups.
The alpacas and llamas
The unique animals were always the main attraction on the farm, and so their presence is central to the visual experience of the website.
Unique experiences
The Alpaca Farm offers a rich and diverse catalog of experiences in the special desert scenery. The website should reflect the richness of experience alongside the desert atmosphere.
Family business
The farm is a product of family love and is still run as a family business. The hand-drawn line reflects the warmth and organic nature of the place.
The Legacy
The illustrations by Arye, the grandfather of the farm, are an essential part of the visual language of the farm for 30 years. As the farm wishes to step up with an elegant and contemporary design, those illustrations remain the base of the design process. The new interpretation emphasizes the elegant over the juvenile.

The website: Home page
The home page is the gate to the farm. Large pictures draw the eye in and invite to the different experiences. Every moment spent in the home page calls for a new and surprising activity.

Elements
The design makes use of the farm’s unique elements. It relies heavily on representation of the special animals on the desert backdrop and a delicate illustration that invokes an organic, warm feeling alongside curiosity and richness of experience.
Hero image
A large photograph offers an overview of the farm. The illustration and the text are a further invitation in and complement each other.

Main menu
The menu is visible throughout the website, presented here in its hover state. It allows the user to quickly navigate and scan through the site. The orange color marks the current page.

Atmosphere text
With a large, handwritten font, the welcoming text describes the different experiences to enjoy on the website. A playful feature allows the user to hover over the orange words and reveal more illustrations.

Experiences pages
The main design challenge is the large, if not overwhelming, selection of activities and experiences featured on the farm. The solution implemented is using 5 main experience categories that branch out to different experience pages. Each of these main category pages is treated as the home page, with a large image accompanying it followed by a brief description of each experience.

Elements
Following the hero image is a short, playful descriptive text with small scrolling illustrations. An imaginative preview adding to the warm, welcoming narrative of the farm.

Every activity is described alongside a compact image and a button. The dimensions of the images allow the eye to quickly scan the catalog and easily choose the desired activity.

Product page
Every activity is fitted with a specific page to learn more and order it. Here, the emphasis is on the detailed, comprehensible information and ease of purchase.
